Gratitude Practices

Gratitude Text Chain

Start a text chain with a group of your friends and agree to send a text to the group each time anyone notices or remembers something that they feel grateful to have in their life.

These can be moments of connection with other beings (people and animals), visions that inspire or uplift you, memories of the support you have had in your life, appreciation of the daily items that support your life.

Grateful Awakening Practice (from gratefulliving.com)

When you first wake up in the morning, before you get up, recall three things you can be grateful for. Focus on the gifts that life if offering you without needing to earn them, or even deserve them.

Grateful Retiring Practice

When you retire for the evening, sitting on the edge of your bed, recall three things you can be grateful for from the day that just past. These don’t have to be profound, simply something you can say ‘thank you’ for to no one (or someone) in particular.

You could be grateful that there is food in the pantry, that you got to see a good friend, that someone held a door for you, that you made it through a rough day, or just enjoyed a wonderful day.

Advanced Gratitude Practice:

Keep a journal from your morning or evening recollections. Review the journal once a month to remember the things in life that evoke the feeling of gratitude.

Notice any patterns that appear in the journaling or record any moments of gratitude that come to mind after your review.
